We now have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Officer to join our team in the Financial and Business Services Directorate . Full-time, continuing position Located at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas HEWL 5: $76,633 - $86,920 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits 2.75% pay increase effective 31 December 2025. ABOUT THE ROLE With a focus on managing the financial aspects of research grants, you will collate a diverse range of financial information, reports, and data in alignment with standards, policies, procedures, and contractual requirements. Maintaining the integrity of financial data and preparing financial reports for research grants will be one of your primary responsibilities. This includes preparing journals, financial transactions, and invoices, identifying anomalies, and rectifying in a timely manner. Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, your commitment to delivering high-quality, customer-focused financial support services will empower our University community. Building positive working relationships within the University, you'll ensure staff are well-informed of their financial responsibilities and compliance with documentation requirements. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE With a degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field, you are an enthusiastic financial professional eager to advance your career. You will be supported with a professional pathway program should you wish to pursue additional studies toward obtaining the Charter of Professional Accounting (CPA) or Chartered Accounting (CA) qualification. You bring a proven ability to review and analyse data, prepare reports with attention to detail, and clearly communicate a variety of financial and non-financial information. You will partner with JCU’s researchers and business leaders to provide financial advice and information to ensure accurate reporting and adherence to grant funding body guidelines. Demonstrated experience in a finance business partner or grants role, or the development and communication of financial information will be highly regarded.
