Volunteering with us is a very rewarding way to give back to the community. Whitehorse Emergency Relief and Support Inc. is a volunteer organisation that provides support to people in severe financial distress. Usually this is in the form of food and food vouchers but it can also be help paying bills and organising referrals. We are looking for someone aged over 50 who can commit to between 4 to 8 hrs a week working with us. This position would suit a retired person in the local area who has experience in a related field such as nursing, teaching or social work. This is an opportunity to make a worthwhile contribution to the community and to work with other dedicated, like‑minded people. It is not suitable for a student seeking placement or someone looking for full‑time paid work in the short term. Category Community Services Commitment Regular – more than 6 months Time Required At least two sessions per week if required. We are open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 11:00am to 3:00pm. Training Before anyone can work as a Community Support Worker they need to complete a seven week training course. This is mostly done online. Some work is done in our office.
