As a Senior Engineering Manager , you’ll lead the charge in building the roadmap of the future guiding a team that creates, manages, and optimises the data platforms powering our business. We are seeking people who are Deliver enterprise-grade data platforms and lead transformational projects that uplift technical capability across crews Drive innovation through AI-powered engineering, turning complex challenges into intelligent, scalable solutions Identify and resolve technology limitations, designing sustainable long-term solutions that minimise risk and maximise value Champion a culture of openness, excellence, and continuous improvement across engineering teams Empower engineers to grow, lead, and innovate with confidence through active mentoring and coaching Collaborate across teams to align technical strategy with business outcomes and customer needs Apply automation and self-service approaches where they add meaningful value and resilience Promote inclusive leadership and diversity of thought to strengthen team performance Provide hands-on technical guidance while influencing strategic direction and architectural decisions Lead with clarity and purpose across the full lifecycle of agile projects from ideation to implementation Technical skills We are driving a strategy of creating a best-in-class AWS based cloud-based data platform. We use a broad range of innovative tools and services to enable the data processing and access requirements of the group with a key goal of enabling the utilisation of GenAI and other advanced data techniques across the business. People management experience with previous experience in playing leadership roles within data engineering chapter and a background of engineering experience Full cycle engineers having familiarity with object-oriented languages and databases Prior experience of working with Data Lakes, warehouses and data processing tools, having done large scale Data migrations before. Streaming services like Kafka and having built data products before. Expertise in leading and driving team of platform engineers utilising AWS services (EMR, Redshift, Glue, Athena among others) highly desirable Promote DevSecOps mindset within your chapter supported by world-class tools Experience working in an agile environment and in the use of work tracking tools such as JIRA Experience implementing large scale self-service enterprise data platforms highly desirable Working with us Whether you’re passionate about customer service, driven by data, or called by creativity, a career with CommBank is for you.
