Responsibilities Provide up to date information & emotional support to survivors & their families enquiring about redress process. Assist survivors with application process if requested. Work with a strengths‑based approach to address specific needs of survivors & work in collaboration with the SEWB coordinator & broader yokai team. Provide brief intervention and support to clients who are at risk of psychosocial distress or experiencing low acuity concerns. Within the worker's expertise and skills, identify immediate risks and needs, explore possible interventions and facilitate referrals. Providing education and preventative tools to help Elders protect themselves from financial abuse, coercion, scams, and undue influence. Provide SEWB support that is sensitive and responsive to the needs of Stolen Generations survivors & their family.> Qualifications Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal people and the ability to communicate effectively and in a culturally appropriately manner. Demonstrated knowledge of current issues, standards, and trends in the delivery of mental health and social and emotional wellbeing services to Aboriginal people. Demonstrated awareness and knowledge of issues impacting on those affected by Stolen Generations' policies and practices. Demonstrated ability to work within and maintain strict confidentiality guidelines and policies. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds to both obtain and convey information relevant to their care. Awareness of and can work to BTHWA’s mission of truth justice and healing as well as WASGAC’s strategic objectives. Ability to work independently, and as part of a team, with an ability to plan, manage and prioritise tasks and resources to deliver outcomes within time and budget considerations.
