This is a AH4, 0.6 FTE, fixed-term SSS Team Leader position in the Hume Merri-bek Area from 23/3/2026 to 23/3/2027. This position is currently based with the Merri-bek team. An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Team Leader to manage and lead a multidisciplinary team of allied health professionals in the delivery of Student Support Services across schools in the Hume Merri-bek Area. About the Department The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services. The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres. About the Role The successful applicant will: drive the implementation of evidence-based initiatives and multi-tiered systems of support across schools in collaboration with the Area and Divisional teams address barriers impacting student learning, engagement, wellbeing and inclusion contribute to the wider-Area approach of building the capability of schools provide professional guidance and advice to school and Area leadership, as well as team members provide supervision and mentoring that supports the work of others coordinate emergency management and critical incident response across schools and school communities manage a small caseload of complex cases engage with community service organisations and other professionals Key qualities we are looking for Expert advice: You will be required to provide collaborative advice that will influence the development of teaching and learning strategies and student wellbeing programs for school leadership teams to embed in their practices. Leadership: You will be required to provide leadership to the SSS team by managing service delivery within a multidisciplinary Area-based team and contributing to professional supervision and direction to other members of the team. Communication: You will have highly developed communication, networking and interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a range of people in the education community and beyond. Flexibility: You will have the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and the capability to work autonomously when required. Collaborative approach: You will have the ability to work collaboratively with other allied health professionals within a multidisciplinary team, and to work with schools to identify, develop and coordinate strategies aimed at quality universal services for all students and support schools in addressing issues early. Mandatory Requirements Applications will be considered from candidates from the following disciplines who meet the mandatory requirements outlined below: Psychologist : A graduate or post-graduate qualification in psychology and full Registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Speech Pathologist : A graduate or post-graduate degree in speech pathology and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia. Social Worker : A graduate or post-graduate degree in social work or equivalent and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers. Occupational Therapist : A graduate or post-graduate qualification in occupational therapy and full Registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Applicants must possess a current Australian Driver's Licence and a valid Working with Children Check. Job Location This position is based in the Hume Merri-bek Area. There is a requirement to travel and undertake work in schools as part of service delivery. SSS staff have access to departmental fleet vehicles.
