About the Role Our Better Buildings Team provide management, engineering and design services to optimise the design, delivery and operation of better buildings. Drawing on the interdisciplinary expertise of the HIP V. HYPE, our team of qualified managers, engineers and designers have a unique understanding of balancing the commercial aspects of building design and delivery with performance. No matter the budget, our team will work to improve sustainability and resilience throughout the lifecycle of a building — from strategy, through detailed design and planning, construction to operation. The Head of Better Building Services will lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and designers providing project leadership and driving exceptional service delivery across Target Sectors and coordinating a growing team aligned with HIP V. HYPE's Brand Values. As a member of the Leadership Team, working collaboratively to achieve the businesses Strategic Goals will be a core responsibility. Manager: Board Location: Melbourne, VIC Starting: FEB 2026 Status: Full Time Experience & Attributes Must Haves Demonstrated alignment with HIP V. HYPE values, with a strong and visible commitment to design excellence and sustainability outcomes. A formal qualification in engineering is required. A robust network of clients and collaborators, proving consistent achievement of sales or revenue targets and established repeat client relationships. Staff management experience, including mentoring, fostering a collaborative/high-performance team, and leading multidisciplinary groups. Advanced skills and technical knowledge in areas of Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic and Fire Services Design Deep familiarity with local building codes and statutory requirements. Understanding of and designing for ESD Rating frameworks (Greenstar, WELL, Living Building Challenge, NABERS, Passivhaus) Industry accreditations: CPEng + state based registrations including but not limited to VIC, ACT and TAS. Strong written/verbal communication; financial literacy; and sound understanding of commercial project delivery environments. Logical reasoning, risk assessment, opportunity identification, and problem-solving capabilities, underpinned by design thinking principles and evidence-based decision making. Continuous improvement mindset and proven track record of implementing process enhancements. Competence in utilising AI-driven tools or workflows to improve operational efficiency and quality of output. Demonstrated commitment to improving the Australian Construction Industry through involvement with local Industries bodies, Universities and TAFEs etc. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Revit, Bluebeam and discipline-specific engineering software plus an enthusiasm for tech upskilling. Demonstrated capabilities in Target Sectors - owner developed & operated asset classes (Social & Affordable Housing, Build to Rent/Hold, Healthcare Aged Care & Retirement Living, Commercial Workplace, Education and Passivhaus). Nice to Haves Proficiency with InDesign, Microsoft Office, and project planning tools, plus an enthusiasm for tech upskilling. Sustainability accreditations i.e Greenstar, Passivhaus Designer... Tasks Administration Continuously review and enhance internal processes and practices for efficiency and quality assurance, leveraging feedback loops and regular process audits to drive improvement. Strengthen quality control systems to safeguard HIP V. HYPE’s brand reputation by setting clear guidelines and conducting regular brand compliance checks. Develop robust compliance frameworks to meet client expectations and regulatory standards, ensuring all legal and industry requirements—including health and safety laws—are actively monitored and enforced. Build a system for early problem detection and rapid response, leveraging incident reporting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement action planning. Lead the design and refinement of business strategies that drive operational efficiency and ongoing improvement, supporting HIP V. HYPE’s innovation objectives. Collaborate with the Leadership Team to set ambitious, measurable goals aligned to HIP V. HYPE's mission and values, aligning short-term actions with long-term strategic vision. Communication Represent HIP V. HYPE at industry events and in the media, ensuring messaging aligns with core values and strategic priorities to reinforce thought leadership and influence meaningful change. Proactively advocate with government and institutional stakeholders, focusing on driving policy or systemic changes aligned with sustainability outcomes. Business Development Partner with the Sustainability Leadership Team to create and execute a dynamic, metrics-driven sales plan guided by the organisation’s strategic priorities. Proactively identify opportunities for organisational growth and market expansion, ensuring that new initiatives align with HIP V. HYPE’s mission and values. Lead, coordinate, and craft compelling, compliant, and competitive responses to EOIs, tenders, and bids, ensuring HIP V. HYPE's values, capabilities and UVPs are clearly communicated and aligned with client requirements. Project Delivery Reinforce systems and processes that support effective, high-quality project delivery, including thorough planning, budgeting, and resource allocation. Foster a client-centric, collaborative approach to project planning and execution, ensuring priorities and methods are jointly agreed upon. Direct technical analysis and oversee all project deliverables to maintain consistent quality and presentation standards. Support project teams with hands-on leadership in report writing, stakeholder engagement, technical research, and analysis where required. Champion and lead collaborative multidisciplinary engagement across the diverse HIP V. HYPE skillset, seeking integrated and optimised sustainability solutions at building, city and regional scales. De-risk projects by forward planning of barriers to delivery including Infrastructure Authority Applications, procurement methodologiesand coordination across other design team participants (both for internal Projects by HIP V.
