About the role This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated andenthusiastic individual to launch a career in horticulture and open spacemaintenance. If you’re passionate about learning, enjoy working outdoors in allweather conditions, and thrive in a team environment, this role is for you.You’ll be involved in scheduled garden maintenance, seasonal planting, and softlandscape upgrades across parks, gardens, and streetscapes, while also havingthe chance to contribute your own ideas and creativity to enhance Manningham’sparks and gardens. What you’ll bring You have good communication skills (both verbal andwritten), are tech-savvy, and demonstrate a proactive attitude with the driveto develop technical skills in a supportive, hands-on environment. You have a genuine interest in horticulture and the environment, are reliable and eager tolearn, work well in a team and with a variety of people, and are ready tocommit to a structured apprenticeship program. Previous horticultural and/orlandscaping experience, including the use of maintenance equipment, is desirablebut not essential, and a current Victorian Driver’s Licence is essential. Skills and Experience Assist in the upkeep and presentation of Council’s parks, gardens, and open spaces through horticultural maintenance activities. Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and machinery safely and effectively. Accurately record operational tasks using Council’s asset management system. Work collaboratively within a team to meet service delivery and customer satisfaction goals. Participate in training and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment. Attend scheduled tertiary training at a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Follow direction, complete landscape works to a high standard and embrace feedback. Assess situations, arrive at appropriate work solutions, and demonstrate sound judgment. Have a passion for horticulture and a desire to continually improve. Enhance and develop your skills in the maintenance of parks and gardens.
