The role of Assistant Principal at Katoomba North PS will cover all classes K-6 as the school is entitled to (one) 1 Assistant Principal position. The successful applicant will be expected to complete duties including all school rosters and timetables, support students with wellbeing and welfare issues as well as being a key member of committees and teams. This is a teaching Assistant Principal position. This position will commence in 2026. Specific Selection Criteria Approval to teach K-6 with proven experience to effectively balance the dual roles of exemplary classroom teacher and the complex responsibilities of the Assistant Principal role. Demonstrated ability in leading differentiated, high-impact professional learning, ensuring the continual development of teacher capability. Outstanding skills supporting the wellbeing of students, ensuring student voice is heard and every student achieves success. Proven, visible leader with the capacity to work collaboratively as part of the leadership team in the development and implementation of initiatives and goals aligned to the school's strategic directions. General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
