EdConnect Learning Support Volunteer

Overview EdConnect Learning Support Volunteers (LSVs) assist students and teachers in the classroom or in other areas of the school for a minimum of one hour per week. LSVs enjoy being involved in the busy school environment, often working autonomously as part of the school team. Using patience, understanding and a positive attitude about education, volunteers encourage and support students to achieve academic goals. Roles Most common roles are: Assisting students with their learning within a classroom. Listening to students read. Working with small groups of students to assist with literacy or numeracy work. Other roles include: Assisting in the school library, canteen or breakfast club. Assisting with specialist programs. Commitment EdConnect requires Learning Support Volunteers to commit for a minimum of six months so schools can integrate volunteer support into their timetables. Experience and Qualifications EdConnect volunteers do not require any particular qualifications, except life experience, literacy in English and a keen interest in helping a new generation build the skills they need for success in life. For families & friends: When a student is at risk of disengagement, their whole network can be affected. The reach of our program extends to families, parents, peers and siblings. Delivery The EdConnect program delivery is flexible. The focus is on outcomes and matching volunteers to students in schools to maximise learning and development opportunities. Training Training is provided online and in person.
