Nurse Manager – After Hours (Temporary Part Time) Location: Sydney – Sydney Eye HospitalEmployment Type: Temporary Part Time until August 2026Position Classification: Nurse Manager Grade 2Remuneration: $68.50 – $69.87 per hour plus superannuationHours per week: 30Requisition ID: REQ Application closes: Sunday 23 November 2025 About the Role The Nurse Manager After Hours is responsible for the supervision of nursing care across all areas of the hospital. The role involves coordinating all clinical care after hours and ensuring the safe operation of the hospital, including emergency responses and maintenance services. The Nurse Manager collaborates with the Hospital Executive to manage incidents, patient and staff complaints, and public relations when senior management is not available. Responsibilities Supervise nursing care in accordance with the hospital’s philosophy, policies, and procedures. Coordinate clinical care after hours and manage emergency responses. Communicate with the executive team regarding safety, incidents, and complaints. Oversee utilisation of after‑hours maintenance services and maintain HealthRoster with appropriate cost centre allocations. Ensure smooth handover and continuity of care for shift teams. Qualifications & Experience Current registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Midwife with the Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Relevant tertiary qualifications in management or extensive clinical and senior nursing management experience in an acute hospital. Demonstrated ability to manage operational issues at a facility level, including patient flow, bed base management and key financial performance goals. Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills. Knowledge of Work Health and Safety, injury management, security and risk management in an acute health service. Proven experience coordinating staff and handling unexpected situations efficiently. Experience with HealthRoster, iPM, IIMS+, Patient Flow Portal, Electronic Journey Board, Staff Link, FirstNet and Microsoft Office. Benefits Orientation and supported transition into role.
