Join a progressive Council just 15mins from the Hobart CBD. We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced planning professional to join our passionate and forward-thinking Strategic Planning team at Glenorchy City Council. This parental leave position is a fixed term, full-time role giving a capable Lead Strategic Planner opportunity to take the reins on a number of complex strategic planning matters until December 2026. However, we also welcome applications from suitably qualified Strategic Planners looking to further develop their expertise in a supportive environment. At Glenorchy City Council, you’ll be exposed to a diverse and growing municipality, encompassing a mix of industrial, commercial, and residential land use matters. Apply your expertise in strategic planning and report writing. Work collaboratively to deliver high-quality planning outcomes. As the Lead Strategic Planner, assist, manage and mentor other team members as needed. As a Strategic Planner, build your career through exposure to a range of strategic planning projects. What You’ll Bring To The Role Tertiary qualification in land use planning or a related field (e.g. environmental design, architecture, or geography). Sound understanding of Tasmania’s planning system, and both the statutory and strategic planning processes. As the Lead Strategic Planner, a demonstrated experience in leading a team and in handling complex planning matters, particularly planning scheme amendments. As a Strategic Planner, an understanding of strategic planning issues. Confidence working with a range of stakeholders to get great outcomes for our community. Position Details Fixed term, full-time (76 hours fortnight) until December 2026.
