The role You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for administering the Pharmacy Business Ownership Act 2024 (Act). As a newly established organisation, the Queensland Pharmacy Business Ownership Council (Council) offers a dynamic and fast‑paced environment that will require adaptability, responsiveness and a proactive mindset. The Principal Licensing and Compliance Officer is responsible for the administration of complex licence applications for pharmacy businesses in Queensland in accordance with legislation, delegations, policies and procedures in a ‘start‑up' environment. The Principal Licensing and Compliance Officer will also undertake compliance monitoring and enforcement activities, such as inspections, as part of the Council's collaborative, educative and risk‑based compliance monitoring programs. Responsibilities Include Administering complex applications for pharmacy business licences and associated applications and notifications promptly and accurately, in accordance with relevant legislation, delegations, policies and procedures. Making recommendations for decision‑making to management and exercising delegated legislative decision‑making functions as required. Preparing clear, accurate and compliant written documents such as statements of reasons for decisions, requests for information, outcome correspondence, information notices and other detailed documents to support decision‑making and application processes. The successful person To be successful in this position, you will have experience in a licensing or regulatory environment and/or have the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, and interpret complex legislation, risk‑management strategies, standards and policies. You will be required to use your judgement and analytical skills to summarise complex information to inform and support recommendations for decision‑making under the Act. You will be a clear communicator with the ability to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding licensing matters. In this position, you will work collaboratively as part of a small team. You will have excellent file‑management skills with the ability to work independently and with a methodical and systematic approach in a dynamic environment. You will have strong prioritisation skills to meet deadlines and statutory timeframes, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. You will have the ability to work in a complex environment, undertaking a variety of responsibilities with a positive and adaptable attitude. Whilst not essential, a qualification or relevant experience in pharmacy, law, public health, regulation, licensing or investigations would be well regarded.
