Why your role matters The Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role within the Indigenous Student Success team at the Nura Gili Centre for Indigenous Programs, supporting the delivery of initiatives that ensure Indigenous students have an exceptional experience throughout their studies at UNSW. This position focuses on coordinating and administering engagement activities, development opportunities, and educational services that contribute to successful Indigenous student outcomes. Working collaboratively within the Indigenous Student Success team and across the wider Nura Gili Centre, the Engagement Coordinator helps create a supportive and empowering environment for students. The role reports to the Deputy Director, Nura Gili, and does not have any direct reports. Specific accountabilities include Contribute to a positive and dynamic Nura Gili community, informed by culturally affirming values, experiences and shared aspirations. Support the delivery and administration of student programs, services and events to achieve high levels of student engagement and success. Collaborate effectively with the Indigenous Student Success Team to contribute to and support program delivery and engagement, as well as with broader Nura Gili teams as required. Work with the Scholarships Office, Faculties and students to promote access to scholarships and financial aid, such as ABSTUDY and emergency payments. About You This position is open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants only. Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience. Demonstrated experience contributing to Indigenous programs and opportunities that result in positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. Project/program management skills, with an excellent ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative. Demonstrated ability to create positive, vibrant and respectful relationships. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high attention to detail and the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders. Knowledge and understanding of legislation and policies that apply to Indigenous students in the higher education sector, including Indigenous Student Success Program (ISSP) and ABSTUDY. Demonstrated experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft Office and CRMs. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands. An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
