About the Role This is a developmental pathway role within our Medical Negligence practice. You will work closely with highly experienced medical negligence lawyers and be mentored as you transition into the role of Solicitor. While you will not be expected to have all the skills of a senior solicitor, you must already have strong foundational capability, professional maturity, and the intellectual curiosity required to work in this demanding area of law. Your work will include, under supervision: Assisting in the conduct and management of medical negligence matters Drafting correspondence, court documents, and briefs to counsel Liaising with medical experts, barristers, and insurers Preparing matters for court events, mediations, and settlement conferences Developing a working understanding of expert evidence and complex medical material Maintaining strong, professional client relationships Contributing to knowledge development and written resources within the practice Mandatory Prerequisites – applications without these will not be considered You must have completed your law degree (students still studying should not apply) Minimum 2 years’ experience as a paralegal in a law firm or experience as a solicitor in medical negligence practice A genuine and demonstrated interest in health law / medical negligence A clear intention to build a long‑term career in this practice area About You You will stand out if you demonstrate: Strong written communication and attention to detail Intellectual discipline and the ability to engage with complex factual material Professional confidence balanced with humility and willingness to learn Excellent organisation and time management Emotional intelligence and maturity when dealing with sensitive client matters A genuine respect for teamwork, mentoring, and professional standards Experience with LEAP Legal Software is advantageous but not essential.
