Come Spend it as an Aged Care Volunteer Visitors I Hoppers Crossing Join Our Coffee & Chat Program: Make a Difference in the Lives of Elderly Residents Brighten someone's day and make a meaningful contribution to their quality of life Our Coffee & Chat Program is a 1:1 personal visit which helps increase connectedness and happiness among aged care residents. “Jack” is a down-to‑earth bloke, a former truck and forklift driver with plenty of life experience and a soft spot for dogs. These days, he enjoys light conversation and the company of someone easygoing. Jack can sometimes change the subject mid‑conversation or lose track of what he’s saying, but with a calm and friendly approach, he’s great to spend time with. His mood can shift depending on how he’s feeling, so a bit of patience and a relaxed attitude go a long way. We’re looking for a volunteer with a good sense of humour and a bit of patience, someone who can take Jack for a stroll, sit for a chat, or just be a steady, friendly presence in his day. If you’re the kind of person who enjoys meaningful one‑on‑one time and wants to make a real difference in someone’s day, we’d love to hear from you. What You’ll Do: Enjoy a chat over a cup of coffee Spend time in the gardens Listen to and share life stories Play cards or work on puzzles Listen to their favourite music Why Volunteer? Many elderly Australians in aged care homes face loneliness and social isolation. By volunteering just one hour a fortnight, you can make a significant difference in their lives. You’ll be matched one‑on‑one with a resident who could greatly benefit from your friendship. Studies show that loneliness can be as detrimental to health as smoking, and sadly, over 40% of people in aged care lack regular visitors. Your presence can help bridge this gap. Program Details: Dedication: Our special volunteers are people who would like to visit their new friend about 20 times or more over a twelve‑month period (about one visit every two to three weeks). Requirements: Must be over 18 years old, complete an NDIS clearance (we will guide you through that process and it is free for volunteers) and be available to visit consistently.
