Employment Type : Temporary Full Time until February 2027 Position Classification : Enrolled Nurse Remuneration : $66,976.41 – $72,773.45 per annum, plus superannuation Hours Per Week : 38 Requisition ID : REQ Applications close : Sunday, 14 December 2025 The Sydney Hospital/Sydney Eye Hospital (SSEH) Transition to Professional Practice Program for Enrolled Nurses is designed to develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of a first‑year Enrolled Nurse to implement safe, quality patient care within a supported, clinical learning environment. The program provides an opportunity for newly graduated Enrolled Nurses to undertake two rotations in a variety of units/departments over the 12‑month program commencing in February 2026. Where you will be working Sydney Hospital is Australia's first hospital, dating from the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788. The hospital is located in the heart of the Central Business District and is within easy walking distance to public transport. For staff who drive, subsidised parking is available on site. As an Enrolled Nurse in SESLHD, you will be an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, supporting other nurses, midwives and care roles, and ensuring that patients experience exceptional, person‑centred, safe, high‑quality care. You will work under the direct and indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse and retain responsibility for your own actions while remaining accountable to the Registered Nurse for all allocated functions. Selection Criteria Current registration or eligibility for registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) prior to the agreed date for commencement of employment. Holder of a Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia approved qualification in medicines administration, including the required units of study for administration of intravenous medication. Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others. Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations. Current computer skills and ability to use health information systems. Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement person‑centred practice. Demonstrated application of evidence‑based practice and critical thinking to patient care. Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise own workload. Need more information?
