No.1 Australian Welding, based in Truganina Vic, specializes in repairs and modification of vehicles, which complies to the state and federal regulations. They offer a range of services including bumper bar repair and modification, fuel tank repair, crack repairs, ring feeder installation with VASS, ramp installation and all general maintenance and repairs. Currently there is a vacancy for a Diesel Motor Mechanic for full-time, who has the skills and experience to join their workforce. Position Summary The Diesel Motor Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy diesel vehicles and machinery. The role requires advanced technical skills in mechanical diagnosis, ability to interpret technical information, and competency in safety and workshop procedures. This position supports workshop operations across heavy vehicles, trailers, and diesel-powered systems, ensuring reliability, compliance, and safe performance. Key Duties & Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy vehicle diesel engines, including complex system faults. Service, inspect, and repair air braking systems, including valves, compressors, lines, and brake components. Diagnose and repair diesel fuel injection systems, injectors, pumps, filters, and associated components. Repair and overhaul clutch systems, transmissions, drivetrains, and related mechanical systems. Diagnose faults in steering and suspension systems across heavy trucks and trailers. Conduct trailer servicing, maintenance, and repairs to ensure roadworthiness. Maintenance & Preventative Work Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on heavy diesel vehicles. Inspect, test, and adjust mechanical components for optimal performance. Identify worn or faulty parts and carry out replacements or rebuilds as required. Technical & Diagnostic Skills Use diagnostic tools, equipment, and computerised systems to detect engine and system faults. Interpret workshop manuals, wiring diagrams, manufacturer specifications, and technical documentation. Complete repair orders, service logs, and job sheets accurately. Workshop Operations & Safety Ensure a safe workplace in line with WHS standards. Maintain clean and organised work areas, equipment, and tools. Follow all company safety procedures, lock-out / tag-out protocols, and hazard reporting. Manage personal work priorities and support continuous professional development. Communication & Teamwork Liaise with supervisors regarding job progress, required parts, or technical issues. Work cooperatively with other mechanics, apprentices, and workshop staff. Skills & Competencies Strong technical knowledge of heavy diesel mechanical systems Proficiency in diagnostics for engines, hydraulic systems, braking systems, and fuel injection Ability to work independently and manage workload Effective communication and teamwork skills Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic Qualifications Required Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (AUR31116) Over 3 years industry experience working on heavy diesel vehicles Salary - $76000-$80,000 per year plus super Only eligible and shortlisted applicants will be contacted. #J-18808-Ljbffr
