Apprentice Carpenter Double Bay, New South Wales Full-time Contract Details 4‑year fixed term contract commencing by 29 February 2026 Gain on‑the‑job skills and obtain a Certificate III in Carpentry (part‑time study) Salary: $25,160.40 to $64,226.88 p.a. plus 12% super, depending on age, qualifications and prior experience Allowances: $987.62 p.a. Position based at the Alexandria Depot; Free onsite parking About The Role Are you interested in building and construction? We are looking to kick start your career in Carpentry with a professional team focused on collaboration and development. In this entry‑level role you will join a supportive and close‑knit team of trades professionals and learn about all areas of Carpentry. Build fundamental skills to work as a carpenter and joiner. Learn project management skills and work on a range of indoor and outdoor projects, including roofing, walls, and floors. The position will require you to undertake repetitive manual tasks related to construction maintenance activities at our various Council sites throughout the Woollahra Local Government Area. In addition to on‑the‑job training you must complete a Certificate III in Carpentry (Trade Licensed). The theoretical component is delivered through a combination of online and face‑to‑face learning on a part‑time basis at Randwick TAFE. Students must complete the certificate by the end of 2027. Essential Criteria Has not previously completed a qualification in Carpentry or a related field. Eligible to enrol in the apprenticeship course to obtain Certificate III in Carpentry. Strong willingness to learn and the ability to successfully complete a Certificate III over up to 4 years. Effective communication and numeracy skills. Commitment to providing excellent customer service. Commitment to complete induction and training programs for safe operation of all workshop machinery. Commitment to apply safe working procedures. Computer awareness/literacy. Commitment to WHS and EEO responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team. Physically fit and able to complete allocated manual handling tasks. Desirable Criteria Current First Aid Certificate. White Card. Driver’s licence.
