About the role As our Child & Family Counsellor , you will walk alongside vulnerable families, helping them heal from complex trauma and strengthen their relationships. You will work with children, young people, and their families who have experienced domestic and family violence (DFV), sexual assault, abuse, bullying, and other forms of vulnerability and disadvantage. Duties Deliver high-quality counselling and psychotherapy to families impacted by trauma, including DFV, historical child sexual assault, and mental health concerns. Conduct strengths-based assessments, implement risk minimisation strategies, and develop safety plans. Co‑facilitate therapeutic group work and psychoeducation programmes for women, children, and young people. Provide case management and coordinate wraparound supports in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Apply a trauma‑informed, strengths‑based approach within an integrated service model to help families heal and strengthen relationships. We support people to live their best life. Skills and Experience You will be a Counsellor, Psychologist, or Social Worker with: 5+ years’ experience counselling families impacted by DFV and trauma (including children/young people). Strong understanding of attachment and the impacts of adversity on children’s developmental outcomes and relationships. A trauma‑informed, strengths‑based approach using a range of therapeutic modalities. Clear understanding of child protection and mandatory reporting requirements. Excellent time management and organisational skills. A respectful, culturally sensitive approach to working with clients from diverse backgrounds. Relevant tertiary (degree) qualification in counselling, art therapy, social work or other related discipline.
