We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Technical Superintendent with Harbour Towage and Offshore experience to support our recent expansion.About the role:Reporting to the Contract Manager of Townsville and Mackay, this full time position is responsible for ensuring that the running maintenance and dry-dockings of an assigned number of vessels is executed in a safe, efficient and cost effective way. The technical Superintendent will maintain the technical status and maximize the uptime of our fleet.This position covers both ports of Townsville and Mackay and as such, it requires the successful candidate to reside in either Townsville or Mackay. Company vehicle will be provided.Key accountabilities of the role:Ensure that day to day operations are performed in a safe, professional, efficient and cost-effective manner.Manage client expectations and build-up a close relationship and 'goodwill' with the customer representative/client on site.Coordinate and execute the daily running maintenance within budget on board of vessels.Monitor and follow-up on the planned maintenance system.Generate and approve purchase orders and requisitions and receive & inspect goods delivered.Supervise, coach and instruct Chief Engineers if and when required to ensure smooth and professional on board technical managementUndertake vessel inspections and report on the status of the vessels to the Regional Marine Manager and Contract Manager.Investigate and analyse root causes of defects and take timely corrective and preventive actions.Arrange surveys with flag state and classification authorities and other relevant parties.Ensure full compliance of vessel certifications with flag state and class requirements.Plan, coordinate and execute dry dockings in line with quality standards, agreed budgets and time lines.Supervise and evaluate activities and performance of third party contractors and vendors.Ensure damages to be surveyed and repaired in close consultation with classification societies and the insurance department.Optimize and implement technical (new build) standards.Maintain daily communication with assigned vessels.About you:Experience in Project ManagementA strong communicator (verbal and written)Minimum 3 – 5 years in Ship Management as a Technical Superintendent orequivalent.Team player with a collaborative approach, maintaining high standards and good work ethics.High level of organisational and planning skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines.Strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver high quality outcomes that are accurate, complete, and timely.The successful applicant will be required to satisfy a company pre-employment medical, drug and alcoholand site inductions.Smit Lamnalco Towage Australia are committed to Equal Employment Opportunities, Ethical Practices, and the principles of Cultural Diversity.
