Applications close: 9am AEDT on the closing date. Likely interview period: 12 January – 5 February Role This senior role will lead a small team that drives the development of our company engagement, strategy development and campaign oversight capabilities across three key sector value chains: Steel, Oil and Gas, Power. The role works in strategic alignment with ACCR's wider team in Australia and Europe. The position holder will lead, mentor and support ACCR's sector strategy leads, and be willing to help with delivery when required. They will leverage networks to facilitate rapid and meaningful decarbonisation across the three key sectors, identifying opportunities to deploy institutional investors’ legal rights and collaborating with stakeholders to enable real‑world emissions reductions. Staff may be based in Australia and Europe, so the role requires regular evening work (especially during the Australian summer months) and flexibility for overlapping hours with European colleagues. Travel within Australia every few months and occasional travel to Europe is part of the role. You’ll love this job if • You enjoy managing people and building a positive team culture, lead by example and get stuck in alongside colleagues rather than leading from on high. • You are a skilled collaborator and relationship builder. • You are excited about co‑designing strategies to drive genuine decarbonisation by the largest listed emitters globally, have strategy development experience, and thrive overseeing complex projects in a fast‑changing environment. • You bring insights into the corporate and finance sectors, know what moves them, and can plan for greatest impact in a multi‑disciplinary international team. Responsibilities Lead a small team to develop and implement coordinated multi‑stakeholder decarbonisation strategies for the Steel, Oil & Gas and Power value chains. Coordinate resources, priorities and time‑frames to create clear objectives and maximize emissions‑reduction impact. Build and maintain effective internal relationships that underpin sector strategy, research, communications and investor engagement plans. Contribute to ACCR media materials and act as spokesperson for ACCR in media and at target company AGMs when required. Develop the Sector Strategy team by coaching, giving feedback, aligning goals and skills, and fostering teamwork and effective relationships with other parts of ACCR. Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to ACCR’s overall strategy, reporting to funders and evaluating impact. Criteria Experience and aptitude for managing staff with diverse expertise, managing tension productively and leading effectively across teams in line with ACCR’s values. Experience developing and executing complex advocacy strategies. Experience relating to the financial or corporate sector, heavy‑emitting industries, climate change or shareholder advocacy. A strategic sense that is both considered and agile, with a mature appreciation of risk assessment in a high‑risk environment. Outstanding interpersonal skills to manage internal and external stakeholders. Capability and credibility to undertake high‑stakes communication (e.g., as media spokesperson, facilitating workshops or meetings). Commitment to ACCR’s mission and values, showing respect and valuing diversity. Flexibility to work overlapping hours with colleagues in Europe and occasional travel. Comfort working in a remote virtual context; ability to operate autonomously. If you do not meet every point above, please still apply if you can see your skills well used in this role.
