Power BI Report Developer (Contract) Location: Sydney Experience Required: 5-7 Years Start Date: 5th Jan 2026 About the Role: We are looking for a highly skilled Power BI Report Developer with 5-7 years of experience in developing Power BI reports and building robust, insightful visualizations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data sources, connectivity, and strong proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) . You should also be familiar with other visualization tools and can communicate effectively, lead development efforts, and work with complex measures. Key Responsibilities Power BI Report Development: Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards to meet business needs and provide actionable insights. DAX Expertise: Utilize strong DAX skills to create complex calculations, measures, and KPIs to enhance report functionality. Data Connectivity: Understand various data sources, work with data connectivity, and ensure seamless integration with backend systems (e.g., SQL, Excel, API-based data sources). Collaboration and Communication: Lead discussions with stakeholders, gather requirements, and ensure alignment on business goals. Communicate progress and results to both technical and non-technical teams. Cross-Tool Familiarity: Utilize knowledge of other visualization tools alongside Power BI (e.g., Tableau, QlikView) as needed for specific use cases. Measure Development: Work with complex measures and integrate them effectively within Power BI reports to provide meaningful insights. Performance Optimization: Ensure reports and dashboards perform optimally by optimizing data models, measures, and query performance. Documentation and Best Practices: Document report development processes, data models, and metrics. Ensure adherence to development best practices and governance standards. Skills and Qualifications Required (5-7 Years Experience): Power BI Report Development: 5-7 years of hands‑on experience in designing and developing Power BI reports and dashboards. Strong DAX Skills: Expertise in DAX for developing advanced calculations, measures, and KPIs. Data Connectivity: Proficiency in integrating data sources such as SQL databases , Excel , APIs , and cloud-based data solutions into Power BI. Visualization Tools Knowledge: Familiarity with other visualization tools (e.g., Tableau , QlikView ) for comparative insights or specific project requirements. Leadership and Communication: Ability to lead report development efforts, collaborate effectively with stakeholders, and communicate technical concepts to business teams. Measure Development: Experience working with complex measures and integrating them effectively into Power BI reports and dashboards. Experience with data modelling and creating efficient data models in Power BI. Familiarity with Power Query for ETL tasks. Knowledge of Power BI Service and managing workspaces, datasets, and security.
