Role Description Fraser-Lever Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Brisbane office. This permanent, full-time role is available for immediate start. Success in this role involves contributing and driving complex, multidisciplinary engineering projects across the full project lifecycle, delivering practical, accountable engineering solutions that meet client needs in mining and heavy industry. You will play a key role in helping Fraser‑Lever remain the first choice for results‑driven engineering by applying your technical expertise, collaborating effectively across disciplines, and driving outcomes that reflect our commitment to our clients. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering. Minimum 8‑10 years’ experience in mechanical engineering across mining, industrial, or major plant projects. Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or eligibility for registration. Knowledge of mechanical design principles and Australian Standards. Proficiency in permissible stress techniques for mechanical structure analysis. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Current right to work in Australia (citizen or permanent resident). Key Responsibilities Knowledge and Skill Base Apply first-principles mechanical engineering analysis to develop and verify designs for plant and equipment. Undertake Finite Element Analysis to evaluate stress, fatigue, and dynamic performance of mechanical equipment and steelwork. Conduct hydraulic and fluid dynamic calculations, including pump selection, pressure loss, and pipe network design for slurry, water, chemical, and fuel systems. Apply and interpret Australian Standards and local regulations. Maintain up-to-date awareness of industry codes, state-based legislation, and registration requirements. Lead and review engineering design deliverables across concept, feasibility, and detailed design stages. Integrate constructability, maintainability, and operability principles in designs, consistent with Australian site practices. Prepare engineering specifications, scopes of work, and design reports aligned with Australian procurement and fabrication standards. Collaborate with structural, civil, electrical, and process engineers to deliver integrated, compliant, and buildable solutions. Assess integrity of fixed and mobile plant; develop rectification and upgrade strategies using evidence-based engineering assessment. Perform detailed mechanical design for mining infrastructure, industrial infrastructure, materials handling systems, processing plant sustaining capital projects. Conduct inspections, and site data collection as required. Develop remedial work recommendations based on plant inspections. Document fluid systems such as slurry pumping and fuel dispensing.
