Your next career opportunity As a Senior Epidemiologist at the Microbiological Diagnostic Unit Public Health Laboratory (MDU PHL), you’ll be at the forefront of genomic epidemiology and the use of genomics for public health surveillance. You’ll manage the surveillance of Carbapenemase‑producing Organisms (CPOs), implementing cutting‑edge analysis methods and fostering collaborations with key stakeholders. This role offers you the chance to contribute to translational research, international capacity building, and shape the future of infectious disease surveillance on a global scale. Your responsibilities will include: Lead Surveillance Programs: Manage CPO and other surveillance programs, contributing to the implementation of new and innovative analysis methods. Analyse Complex Data: Perform, interpret, and report on epidemiological, genomic, and laboratory data. Foster Collaborations: Build relationships with key stakeholders in public health departments and research institutes. Contribute to Research: Participate in translational research projects and present findings at conferences. Support Capacity Building: Contribute to international training programs in genomic epidemiology and laboratory surveillance. You may be a great fit if: You are an experienced epidemiologist with a strong background in infectious disease surveillance, demonstrating expertise in data analysis and a passion for advancing public health through innovative approaches. You may also: Have demonstrated experience in infectious disease epidemiology and/or public health surveillance. Possess considerable experience in analysing epidemiological, genomic, and public health data. Show interest or experience in epidemiological or phylodynamic modelling approaches. Demonstrate the capacity to lead planning, implementation, and development of public health programs. Hold a tertiary qualification in epidemiology, public health, pathogen genomics, or a related field. Exhibit strong collaborative skills and the ability to work in a multi‑disciplinary team. Show commitment to working with confidential data in a regulated environment. Ideally have experience in genomic epidemiology and bioinformatic analysis.
