In this role, you will provide strategic leadership to the Program Management Office (PMO) to support the successful delivery of program outcomes in alignment with Defence objectives. You will oversee multiple interdependent projects, drive robust governance frameworks and build strong stakeholder relationships across Defence and industry to achieve program milestones and capability outcomes. Your responsibilities will include: Leading the development and implementation of the Program Strategy and Program Management Plan, ensuring compliance with Defence frameworks and best practice. Overseeing program governance to ensure the delivery of project and program outcomes on time, budget and within scope. Providing strategic direction and leadership to project teams, ensuring alignment with program objectives and Defence priorities. Establishing effective working relationships within a multidisciplinary team and across multiple delivery groups. Managing stakeholder engagement at all levels, including senior Defence representatives, industry partners, and internal teams. Representing the Capability Manager at a variety of forums to drive program outcomes. Preparing and presenting high quality program status reports, dashboards, and briefing materials for governance forums and senior leadership. Driving continuous improvement in program delivery through lessons learned, process optimisation, and performance metrics. Ensuring quality assurance of program artefacts and documentation to maintain integrity and compliance. Demonstrated experience in program management within complex, multi-project Defence environments. Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively. Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes under limited direction. Familiarity with program governance frameworks and tools, including risk, schedule, and cost management. Knowledge of Defence capability development processes, including the One Defence Capability System, is highly regarded. Experience in managing large-scale programs within Defence or similar government environments. They should be comfortable working in both an independent and collaborative manner, and capable of managing multiple activities concurrently.
