Female Peer Support Worker Lead With Heart Heal with Culture. The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is a Not-for-Profit Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West of Western Australia. SWAMS delivers a wide range of community programs and has a strong growth strategy through partnership opportunities and future community development. The SWAMS Mental Health team places a strong focus on a person-centered approach and a collaborative working culture to achieve the best possible outcomes for our mob. We are seeking a passionate Aboriginal Peer Support Worker to join our Social Services Team. The role of Peer Support Worker is to support peers to achieve a satisfactory and meaningful lifestyle through facilitating group activities and other key responsibilities. These include : Build trusting relationships with clients through shared lived experience and mutual respect. Provide emotional support encouragement and practical assistance to individuals. Facilitate peer-led groups workshops or activities that promote wellbeing and recovery. Assist clients in navigating mental health services housing employment and other supports. Advocate for client needs and rights within service systems. Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning and team meetings. Uphold confidentiality boundaries and ethical standards at all times. Essential Criteria Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent under Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act.
