About your opportunity: The Vic Callanan Department of Anaesthetics and Perioperative Medicine at Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS) offers Specialist Anaesthetists the opportunity to work in a vital and innovative department in tropical North Queensland. Anaesthetists at Townsville University Hospital have the opportunity to deliver high quality anaesthetic and perioperative care to patients from the THHS area and referred tertiary patients from the entirety of North Queensland. The role requires the applicant to undertake a broad range of anaesthetic and perioperative practice and there are opportunities to develop special clinical interests across a wide range of specialties. The Specialist Anaesthetist will lead and manage the provision of medical services in accordance with the standards of the speciality, the ethics of the profession and in accordance with the Townsville HHS and Queensland Health policies in a hospital, community and outreach setting. Research is encouraged and the supervision and training of medical students up to provisional fellows and upskilling specialists is an essential part of the role. Salary range: $210,332 to $266,667 p.a. (L18 - L27) 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation Salary sacrificing options may be available Attraction and retention incentive allowance (50% base salary) Motor vehicle allowance between $21,000 and $25,500 p.a. Professional development allowance of $21,500 p.a. + 3.6 weeks p.a. leave Role Requirements: Qualified as a medical practitioner with specialist qualifications and registration, or eligible for registration, as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia in the appropriate discipline. All applicants must be awarded SoCP by the THHS Credentialing and SoCP committee. This position may require the incumbent to work at other facilities within the THHS. Candidates who will be obtaining fellowship in the near future are encouraged to apply. Appointment will be at a lower classification level until minimum requirements for the Staff Specialist classification are obtained. Possession of class C drivers' licence. This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Probation period may apply. Pre-employment checks will be conducted, including criminal history clearance.
