Pimlico State High School is seeking a professional and motivated Attendance Officer to join our school team. This role plays a vital part in supporting student engagement and improving attendance outcomes through proactive monitoring, follow-up, and collaboration with students, families, and school staff. The successful applicant will work closely with school leadership, guidance officers, and external agencies to promote regular school attendance and address barriers impacting student participation. Developing productive and welcoming relationships with students, colleagues and members of the community is a high priority. This is a permanent part-time role for 30 hours per week to commence for the start of the 2026 school year. About The Role Attendance administration: Manage administrative processes for the School Attendance Policy, including recording planned and unplanned student absences via QParents, phone calls, texts and emails, unmarked roll follow-up, student exits/exclusions, and processing exemptions and leave forms. Monitoring and reporting absences: Coordinate with year level Deputy Principals regarding unexplained absence letters, track chronic absenteeism, and collect and analyse attendance data to identify patterns and reasons for absences. Student support and intervention: Provide attendance data and reports to the senior executive and student support teams to support interventions for students experiencing attendance and engagement challenges. Family engagement and attendance strategies: Build and maintain links between the school and families of students with persistent absences, assist teachers in addressing attendance barriers, and contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to improve school attendance. Support services and general office duties: Identify barriers to attendance and refer at-risk students to appropriate support services, while undertaking general office responsibilities such as filing, answering phones, first aid support and front counter assistance.
