DevOps Engineer (Platform & Automation). Job description Join the Cake Team We’re scaling Cake Equity - used by 20,000+ startups - and we’re looking for a DevOps Engineer with strong interest in automation and QA, who believes speed and reliability are two sides of the same coin. We need a high-ownership engineer to support the growth of the platform. What you’ll be doing Build the engine: Own the platform that lets our engineers ship faster, safer, and more often. You're not just deploying code; you're building the "deploy" button. Architect for scale: Design, build, and maintain our core cloud infrastructure (AWS). Tackle the hard scaling challenges before they become problems. Automate quality: This is key. Design, build, and own our test automation infrastructure. You'll build the frameworks and pipelines that enable our team to run API, E2E, and performance tests seamlessly within the CI/CD flow. Be the force multiplier: Partner with backend, frontend, and product teams to eliminate bottlenecks in both development and testing. Your job is to make shipping high-quality code easy. Own reliability: Drive the technical roadmap for platform reliability, security, and performance as we scale into the US and global markets. You own the 'up' in 'uptime' and the 'pass' in 'all tests pass'. This is a pure back end role, if you are a strong front end dev, this is not the role for you. You’ll thrive if you have: The startup aptitude: You're a problem-solver who takes initiative. You see a problem (in infra or in testing), you own it, you fix it. Deep platform experience: 5+ years in a DevOps, or Platform Engineering role. (Startup exposure is a massive bonus). Cloud & container mastery: Deep mastery of cloud platforms (AWS). You live and breathe containers (Docker) and know how to build scalable, observable architectures. A passion for automated QA: You have demonstrated experience building, scaling, and integrating automated test frameworks (e.g., Pytest, Cypress, Playwright) into a CI/CD pipeline. A coder's mindset: Strong scripting/coding skills (Python preferred) – you build tools, not just use them. You'll apply this to both infrastructure (IaC) and test automation. API Expertise: Strong experience with API design, testing, and security. Self-motivation: You thrive working on-site and remotely with a global, highly-dedicated team.
