Company Description AFCA is the Australian Financial Complaints Authority – a not‑for‑profit, independent ombudsman that resolves financial complaints for Australians. Our mission is to promote fairness, accountability and transparency in the financial services sector. Job Description Are you a seasoned finance leader ready to make a meaningful impact? At AFCA, we’re seeking a Financial Controller to lead our financial operations and governance functions with precision, integrity, and strategic foresight. In this pivotal leadership role, you will: Lead end‑to‑end financial operations, including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and cash management. Deliver accurate month‑end and year‑end financial reporting. Provide technical accounting advice and ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards. Manage internal controls, finance systems access, and audit processes. Oversee fixed asset management and treasury functions. Prepare board‑level financial reports and variance analysis. Champion continuous improvement and team capability development. In this role, you will collaborate closely with: AFCA’s Finance Team and Senior Leadership Group. External auditors, financial firms, and banking institutions. Service providers and third‑party suppliers. Qualifications CA/CPA qualification with several years of senior financial leadership experience. Deep expertise in financial accounting, internal controls, and compliance. Proficiency in Microsoft D365 Finance and Operations or a similar ERP system. Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical acumen. Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
