Principal Chief Scientist Chemical Pathology, Queensland Health Take the next step in your career with this exciting opportunity within Pathology Queensland. What you’ll do Strategically and operationally manage the discipline of Chemistry at the Pathology Queensland – Central laboratory and provide scientific leadership of the Chemistry discipline with Pathology Queensland State-wide. The position is responsible for the implementation of policy throughout the state as defined by the Pathology Queensland Executive and Discipline Director in consultation with the discipline working party and the coordination of all state-based discipline activities providing an efficient channel for communication to the discipline director and the discipline working party. Provide critical appraisal of existing agency and policy and utilise problem solving abilities to contribute to State-wide policy development. About you We are searching for someone who has: Knowledge, skills and expertise in the validation and clinical interpretation of results in chemical pathology. Knowledge of chemical pathology testing and its diagnostic, therapeutic and monitoring role in disease and health. Demonstrated ability to manage an integrated Chemical Pathology service of a complex nature, including delivery of financial and business planning outcomes. Demonstrated ability to lead others and set policy within a large organisation. Proven ability to exceed client expectations and continuously improve service delivery models. Demonstrated ability to solve complex scientific and operational problems. Proven commitment to the developing and maintaining of a positive workplace culture, including professional development of others. Demonstrated high level skills in the areas of conflict resolution, negotiation and stakeholder engagement. Demonstrated pursuit of personal and professional development goals, to ensure skills and knowledge are current in both scientific and management areas. Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) degree or an equivalent qualification is mandatory. While not mandatory, a relevant qualification in management would be well regarded.
