Scientist Anatomical Pathology, Queensland Health Are you looking for a new adventure? Perhaps adding to your skillset? Challenging yourself in a new environment? We are seeking a competent individual to join our hard‑working team of Health Professionals. This role will apply an advanced or competent level of technical and scientific knowledge, skills and experience in histology, and engage in independent decision‑making and judgement on a day‑to‑day basis with minimal clinical practice supervision. Key competencies (role specific criteria) Demonstrated ability to apply competent scientific judgement in the coordination of Anatomical Pathology processes and to follow established standard operating procedures. Demonstrated ability to provide Anatomical Pathology services specifically in the areas of histology with a focus on microtomy, embedding, and performing duties associated with the processing of surgical tissue through the cut‑up areas of the histology laboratory. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of a multi‑disciplinary team. Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop, and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification. Demonstrated ability (or understanding) to triage workloads and communicate this effectively with team members. Proficiency in the use of laboratory information systems or the ability to rapidly acquire these skills. Experience or an understanding of the various facets of immunohistochemical and molecular testing on anatomical pathology specimens would be highly desirable. The successful applicant will be on a fixed rostered late shift 13:30‑22:00 hours weekdays, Monday‑Friday. The successful applicant may be required to participate in a rotational roster to cover on‑call arrangements as required.
