Alfred Health supports the local community while addressing complex state-wide needs, including trauma, organ transplantation and HIV/AIDS diagnostics. APS conducts all pathology testing for multiple hospitals, offering a comprehensive range of services through five specialized units: Anatomical Pathology, Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology, and Human Molecular Pathology. Position Summary Scientists in this position work primarily in the Histopathology section applying a broad range of histological techniques. Rotation into Immunohistochemistry, Cytopathology and VNLS may occur on a rostered basis. Perform specimen processing in histology, immunohistochemistry, neuromuscular and cytology sections. Prepare frozen sections for urgent diagnosis and immunohistochemistry. Perform routine and special histological and cytological staining techniques. Participate in specimen reception and specimen cut-up. Participate in rotating rosters within Anatomical Pathology, including shifts, weekends and on‑call. About You Qualifications Required A directed degree in Biomedical Science from a recognised University. A Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) from an Australian or New Zealand University is preferred. Experience and Skills Required Experience in one or more aspects of diagnostic histopathological techniques such as tissue handling, specimen registration, histological processing, specimen cut‑up, tissue embedding, microtomy, histological staining techniques If you require any accommodations during the recruitment process, please let us know in your cover letter or CV.
