Medical Scientist, Microbiology – Alfred Health Alfred Health is a leading health service provider in Victoria, delivering a full range of care across Melbourne suburbs. Position Summary The Laboratory Scientist will perform routine microbiology tests autonomously (after initial training) and participate in on‑call rosters. Responsibilities include quality assurance activities such as equipment maintenance, quality control programmes and general housekeeping duties (stocktaking, reagent preparation, delivery unpacking). The role is based at the New Footscray Hospital laboratory, with potential assignments at other Shared Pathology Service sites and rotating 24/7 on‑call rosters as required. About You Qualifications Required – Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine with a major in Microbiology (or recognised equivalent). Experience and Skills – Experience working in a diagnostic microbiology laboratory. Previous experience troubleshooting automated laboratory analysers. Demonstrated verbal, written communication and organisational skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
