Community Support Worker (Newcastle Region) Lumia Care East Maitland, New South Wales, Australia Lumia Care is seeking a reliable and compassionate Support Worker to assist a client living with limited vision and recovering from a recent stroke. The ideal candidate will be patient, attentive, and confident providing both in-home and community-based support. What We’re Looking For Experience supporting clients with vision impairment, stroke recovery, or mobility limitations Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, or Aged Care (highly regarded) Strong communication and observational skills Patience, reliability, and a gentle approach to care Current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle (essential) Your Role Includes Domestic Assistance & Cleaning: general household cleaning, tidying, light meal preparation. Personal Care & Hygiene: support and guidance when getting in and out of the shower, ensuring safety during independent showers. Transport & Community Access: transport to Blind Bowls every second Wednesday, support with grocery shopping and medical appointments, encourage participation in social and recreational activities. Emotional Support: provide reassurance, calm presence if client becomes unsettled, promote confidence, independence, and wellbeing.
