Responsibilities Lead the integration and transformation of Orygen’s diverse portfolios, shaping the future of youth mental health nationally and globally Drive strategic projects and initiatives that advance innovation, organisational growth, and sustainable impact Champion a values-driven, collaborative culture that prioritises equity, inclusion, and youth participation The Position Orygen is at the forefront of youth mental health, dedicated to transforming care, research, and advocacy for young people. The newly created role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) will play a central role in Orygen’s transformation into the National Institute of Youth Mental Health, safeguarding quality and fostering innovation in youth-centred care and research translation nationally and globally. Reporting to and working closely with the Executive Director, Professor Patrick McGorry, the COO will lead a unified approach across all portfolios including research, clinical, translation, digital, global, and enabling functions. The COO will support strategic alignment and operational excellence, fostering a cohesive and high-performing team. The role will also lead the design and implementation of national models of care, oversee strategic projects, and ensure robust governance and compliance. The incoming COO will be a highly strategic and visible leader with a proven track record of executive-level operational leadership in health, research, public health, or not-for-profit organisations. Exceptional skills in strategic planning, organisational transformation, and stakeholder engagement will be essential, as will be a commitment to equity, inclusion, and codesign with young people and families. Tertiary qualifications in health, public health, psychology, social sciences, business administration, or a related discipline will be essential, with postgraduate qualifications highly regarded.
