The Role The Cyber Security Analyst plays a key role in leading the monitoring, analysis, and response to cyber threats, delivering remediation to protect Southern Ports’ systems and data. Working autonomously on complex security initiatives, provide expert advice, and collaborate with our managed SOC to investigate incidents, refine playbooks, and drive continuous improvement. Key Duties and Responsibilities Cybersecurity Operations – Lead incident response, monitor alerts, investigate threats, and conduct post-incident reviews to maintain strong situational awareness. Threat & Vulnerability Management – Operate and optimise scanning tools, coordinate remediation with service owners, and validate fixes through re-testing. Risk Management – Manage the cybersecurity risk register, oversee third‑party security performance, and support compliance with frameworks such as Essential 8, ISM, and NIST. Incident Response Development – Develop, test, and refine incident response procedures to enhance detection, containment, and recovery capabilities. Reporting & Stakeholder Communication – Prepare clear security reports on risks, trends, and incidents to inform senior leaders and guide continuous improvement. Cyber Security Awareness – Lead awareness training, coordinate phishing simulations, and promote secure behaviours across the organisation. Required Degree or advanced diploma qualification. Extensive experience in a Cyber Security Operational role. Demonstrated expertise using advanced information security technologies such as vulnerability management, endpoint protection, SIEM, and cloud security solutions including Microsoft Defender. Proven ability to produce detailed technical documentation and reports to support security operations, risk management, incident response, and compliance activities. Demonstrated knowledge of advanced techniques and processes to identify, prioritise, validate, and respond to security alerts and vulnerabilities across on‑premise and cloud environments. Strong knowledge of security tools and methodologies used to analyse systems, identify indicators of compromise, and collect evidence for incident response activities. Ability to travel to Southern Ports locations (Albany, Bunbury, Esperance, and Perth). Preferred ISC2 CCSP CompTIA CySA+ ISACA CCOA, CRISC, or CISM Microsoft SC-200 Working knowledge of scripting and query languages such as Windows PowerShell, Linux command line, or Kusto Query Language (KQL) Comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISM, and Essential Eight Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive, self‑motivated approach Effective collaboration within cross‑functional teams and ability to influence outcomes To apply, please submit your application through our advertisement.
