Job Role: Senior Cloud Engineer Job Type: Contract Location: Sydney Key responsibilities Designing, building, and maintaining scalable and secure cloud infrastructure patterns on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using Infrastructure as Code. Guiding the DevOps foundations, including CI/CD pipelines, to support our microservices architecture. Collaborating with development teams to establish best practices for building, deploying, and operating cloud-native applications on serverless platforms like Cloud Run. Automating infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and repetitive operational tasks to enhance efficiency and reliability. Implementing and managing observability and monitoring tools to provide deep visibility into system health and performance. Championing a culture of automation and continuous improvement across all engineering teams. What you’ll bring Proven, hands‑on experience designing and implementing solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Deep expertise in building DevOps foundations and automated CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Google Cloud Build, or similar. Strong practical experience with microservices architectures, including containerisation (Docker) and serverless compute platforms (Cloud Run, GKE). Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform. Excellent scripting and automation skills (e.g. Python, Bash, etc). Ability to debug complex systems, optimise code, and influence engineering teams to adopt DevOps best practices. Experience with a subset of technologies in our stack is highly desirable: Cloud: Google Cloud Platform. Code: Knowledge in Go, NodeJS, Python is a huge bonus. Databases: Cloud SQL, Firestore, NoSQL (MongoDB). Observability: Google Cloud's operations suite (Cloud Monitoring and Logging), Dynatrace, Prometheus, PagerDuty.
