Associate Director - Credit & Valuations MaxCap Group is one of Australia's leading real estate investment managers, trusted by institutional investors across the globe. We are seeking an ambitious individual with a valuation qualification to join our highly skilled credit risk management team. This role provides the opportunity to expand your valuations expertise and build risk management skills, paving the way to accelerate a career in valuations or transition into investment management or banking roles. You will have exposure to diverse property types across Australia and New Zealand, collaborate with senior valuers and investment professionals, and have the chance to contribute to Investment Committee insights. About the Role Reporting to the Head of Credit, you will play a critical role in overseeing the end-to-end valuation process across MaxCap's business. You will assist in each stage of the investment risk appraisal process; applying your general valuation skills and a risk-focused mindset to critically review and challenge valuer / borrower assumptions, identify issues and provide insights that assist MaxCap's credit decision-making process. You will also assist with ongoing assessment and management of property risks across the loan book. Key Responsibilities Instruct and critically review valuation reports and technical reports to provide asset / sector risk insights that contribute to the team's assessment of lending / project risks Collaborate with front line investment teams to support credit risk's understanding of proposed real estate security, providing insights into matters such as market trends, supply / demand, price-points, competing stock analysis. Negotiate and manage valuations directly with external firms Monitor portfolio performance and identify early signs of deterioration Develop and maintain robust industry relationships across advisory, valuations, construction and development sectors Represent MaxCap professionally to lenders, developers, valuers and key partners You Bring Commercial Property Valuation Qualification (API or RICS) (essential) Tertiary qualification in Property, Commerce, Finance or related discipline Ideally 5+ years' relevant experience, which may include experience within a property valuation firm, advisory / consulting within a Big 4 or Tier 1 professional services firm or lending / risk management experience in a major bank.
