Legal Secretary – Medical Negligence & Public Liability We are partnering with a well‑established firm seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join a dynamic team in Sydney, Parramatta or Newcastle, NSW specialising in Medical Negligence and Public Liability matters. Working closely with senior practitioners, you will assist with all stages of complex claims, from intake and evidence‑gathering to settlement or litigation. Prepare and proofread legal documents including correspondence, pleadings, affidavits, witness statements, and expert reports. Open, organise, and maintain matter files, including managing electronic and physical records, document indexing, and tracking deadlines. Liaise with clients, medical professionals, expert witnesses, insurers, and other stakeholders to gather information and coordinate documentation. Support case preparation, including evidence collection, chronology preparation, and document disclosure. Manage court and tribunal deadlines, meetings, and appointments, ensuring all tasks are completed on time. Assist with settlement processes, including preparing settlement packs and monitoring correspondence with clients and insurers. Generate reports, track costs, and maintain accurate records of matter progress. About You Proven experience as a legal secretary, preferably in medical negligence, personal injury, or public liability matters. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail. Excellent organisational and time‑management skills, able to prioritise competing tasks efficiently. Familiarity with medical records, expert reports, insurance documents, and court procedures. Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal practice management systems. Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team environment. Empathetic approach to client communication, with the ability to handle sensitive and complex matters professionally.
