As a Community Safety Officer, you will thrive in an ever-changing work environment with new challenges and opportunities every day. You will be supported by the Team Leader, Senior Community Safety and the wider Community Safety team. Your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of activities, including but not limited to local and state law enforcement, homeless support and education, animal management and investigations relating to dogs, cats, illegal dumping, illegal camping, off‑road vehicles, firebreaks. About the Role Assist in ensuring effective and efficient delivery of Community Safety Services in the City of Fremantle. Education of the community with relevant Local and State Laws, and enforcement of relevant Local and State Laws where required. Animal handling and management abilities, including conducting dog attack investigations, with diligence, professionalism and objectiveness. Conducting pro‑active and high‑visibility patrols and provide a response capability to Community Safety team requests. Conduct investigation to resolve complaints in a professional, proactive and timely manner. Assist and contribute towards Community Safety initiatives and projects as required. Promote and role model excellence in customer service in compliance with the City of Fremantle Customer Service Charter. Ensure protocols for prosecutions are adhered to, including but not limited to evidence management, reporting, and utilising City information management systems. Document relevant interactions, preparing reports and communicating appropriately. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, such as WA Police Force and Support Services, for the safety of the Fremantle Community. Other duties as directed from time to time. Highly effective and proven communication and interpersonal skills, including strong emotional intelligence abilities. Proven ability to make critical decisions under pressure and apply problem‑solving skills to resolve complex and sensitive situations. Intermediate computer literacy and experience using the full Microsoft Suite. Possession of a current Western Australian driver’s licence. Current First Aid Certification. Ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Clearance. Highly Desirable ROCS1 and ROCS2 qualifications. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Acts, Regulations, and Local Laws. Demonstrated ability in conducting investigations, detailed report writing, and preparing case files for prosecution. Experience in a front‑line facing role and/or Community Safety or Ranger role.
