About the Program Amplify SONIKA involves youth volunteers leading the planning, development and delivery of music, cultural and recreational events in their local community. These events provide important event‑planning experiences and performance opportunities for local musicians and emerging artists to showcase their talent through live music events, community art, and cultural events. Key Skills Developed Event Management Artist Liaison and Bookings Stage Management Technical and Sound Production Occupational Health and Safety Budgeting Communication Skills Marketing and Promotions Inclusion Training Duties of Volunteers Attend and participate in weekly meetings and Amplify Program SONIKA events and training opportunities Research the musical, cultural, and creative arts interests of young people Market, promote, and publicise events Negotiate performance contracts with musicians and other artists Negotiate agreements with vendors providing services for Amplify events Secure additional sponsorship from the local community where necessary Manage the production of events Oversee budgets for each event Ensure occupational health and safety standards are met Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders Commitment Regular – more than 6 months. Meetings are held Thursday nights from 4 pm to 6 pm.
