MANAGER: Head of Operations LOCATION: Sydney ABOUT MORRISON: Morrison Securities is an ASX Trading & Clearing Participant that specialises in bespoke execution and clearing services to 3rd party/wholesale AFSL holders such as financial advisors and financial planners. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Graduate Operations Specialist – Operations role provides an opportunity to learn and support the day-to-day activities involved in international trade processing, settlement, post-trade operations, and global securities transfers. This is a hands-on learning role designed to introduce the person to key operational processes, regulatory considerations, and the end-to-end lifecycle of international trading. The person will work alongside experienced team members to understand workflows, systems, and best practices across custodial movements, corporate actions, and operational risk. The position is ideal for someone seeking foundational experience in financial markets operations, with training, mentorship, and exposure to a wide range of operational functions. MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Trade Processing & Settlement (Training and support) Assist the team with monitoring international trade flows and learn how exceptions and settlement issues are identified and resolved. Support the preparation and review of confirmations, allocations, and reconciliations. Learn how custodians and clearing brokers interact in the settlement lifecycle. Stock Transfers / Securities Movements (Training and support) Observe and assist with internal and external stock transfer processes, including cross-border and custodial movements. Learn how instructions, account mappings, and regulatory requirements (e.g., tax flags, cost bases) are maintained. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) as you learn around stock transfers, account types, currencies, market jurisdictions, and reporting requirements. Learn about regulatory obligations relevant to international operations (AML/KYC, sanctions, settlement rules). Assist with maintaining internal controls such as checklists, dual-control processes, and error tracking. Process Improvement & Systems (Developmental Exposure) Support continuous improvement activities by helping document workflows and identify areas for efficiency. Gain exposure to operations systems (e.g., custody platforms, reconciliation tools, trading interfaces). Assist with data quality checks and basic reporting tasks. Stakeholder collaboration Learn how Operations interacts with internal teams (Trading, Compliance, Risk, Finance). Participate in meetings with brokers, custodians, and other external partners as part of the development program. Reporting & Governance (Support) Assist in maintaining operational procedures, updating documentation, and organising audit or governance materials. Help prepare simple reports or summaries for internal stakeholders. Support the team with incident follow-ups, drafting summaries, or administrative tasks related to operational events. Stay informed of market developments and industry trends as part of ongoing training. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Currently studying or recently completed a degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline. Candidates must hold a Finance or Business degree as the minimum education requirement. Strong interest in financial markets, trading, or operations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good analytical ability, attention to detail, and willingness to learn. Ability to work in a team and ask questions when unsure. Strong organisational and time-management skills. Desirable (but not required) Basic understanding of stock markets, custody, or settlement concepts. Exposure to trading or administration systems (e.g., IRESS, FNZ Shares) is advantageous but will be taught. Previous internship or work experience in financial services is a plus.
