Workshop & Equipment Maintenance Specialist – Avocado Farm

Full-Time | Mareeba Region | Immediate Start We are a large-scale avocado orchard operation looking for a practical, hands‑on person who loves fixing things and keeping equipment running smoothly. You don’t need trade papers or a formal mechanic qualification – we just need someone who is genuinely mechanically minded, has plenty of real‑world experience turning spanners, and can confidently tackle most day‑to‑day repairs on farm gear, vehicles, and machinery. About the Role You’ll run your own well‑equipped workshop with a high level of autonomy. The job is varied: one day you might be servicing a tractor, the next rebuilding a pump or welding a broken implement. Major breakdowns can go to external specialists – your focus is keeping everything moving with fast, effective in‑house fixes. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues on tractors, sprayers, trucks, utes, mowers, small engines, pumps, and various farming implements Carry out routine servicing, preventive maintenance, and daily running repairs Light fabrication, welding, and modifications when needed Order parts, manage stock levels, and keep the workshop tidy and organised Log all jobs and maintenance digitally (simple app on phone/tablet – we’ll show you) Work closely with the farm manager and leading hands to prioritise jobs and minimise downtime About You You’re the type of person who can look at almost anything mechanical and work out how to get it going again. You enjoy problem‑solving, take pride in your work, and like having the freedom to run your own show. Strong hands‑on experience fixing a wide range of equipment (trucks, tractors, sprayers, small engines, pumps – doesn’t matter where you got it: farm, home workshop, previous jobs) Solid understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and basic 12V electrical systems Comfortable with welding and light fabrication Physically fit and happy to get your hands dirty Reliable, honest, and a genuine “can‑do” attitude Enjoy to work on your own and use your initiative Highly Regarded (but not essential) HR truck licence Previous farm or horticulture experience Experience using digital maintenance apps or software What We Offer Huge workshop that is all yours with everything you need if we don’t have it, we’ll get it.
