About Us People, Safety, Culture and Communications (PSCCs) core functions span the breadth of workplace cultural and people matters, including human resource policy and strategy; organisational culture and change; recruitment, redeployment, and retention; performance and development; pay, benefits and workforce reporting; occupational health and safety management; and employment regulations. The Senior Manager, Safety sits within Safety, Wellbeing and Compliance (SWC), a branch of the PSCC in the Department of Justice and Community Safety. The SWC branch provides process, systems, and services to support the department to meet its responsibilities under health and safety laws (Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004, Dangerous Goods Act 1985 and Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013). About The Role The Senior Manager, Safety leads and partners with a team of health and safety managers and relevant stakeholders to steer and maintain focus towards the continuous reduction of high-risk activity. The manager will also provide assurance that the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) is operationally effective, resulting in a prevention led reduction in workplace injuries and improved overall safety culture. A full and current driver's license is required due to the need to work across different locations. Some Of Your Duties Will Include Contributing to delivering strategic initiatives by working collaboratively with key partners. Arranging, coordinating and leading the Corrections Victoria HSR Community of Practice. Developing, seeking endorsement for, and implementing OHS services and projects to support the operations of the relevant business unit(s). About You Management and leadership experience. Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge, understanding and experience in the application of OHS legislation, codes of practice and regulations. Demonstrated experience in facilitation with managers and staff to provide key outcomes in health and safety and related workplace improvement initiatives. Strong stakeholder management skills. Qualifications A suitably qualified person, with a diploma in occupational/workplace health and safety and/or Management is highly desirable. Demonstrated extensive safety and management experience is desirable. A full and current driver's license is required due to the need to work across different locations.
