We are currently seeking a part-time Laboratory Technician to join our team at the Josephville manufacturing site, located approximately 90 km south of Brisbane. About the Role Reporting to the Laboratory Team Leader, this role plays a key part in ensuring all GELITA Australia products meet food safety and quality standards. You will conduct a range of laboratory tests on gelatine products, environmental samples, chemicals, and wastewater, contributing critical data to support site-wide decision-making and continuous improvement. This is a part-time position with a rotating roster, including alternating weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday) . Flexibility to work different days is essential and will be discussed during the interview process. Key Responsibilities Perform quality testing of GELITA products in line with analytical and microbiological procedures Prepare and test microbiological media and laboratory reagents Collect, prepare, and analyse environmental samples (e.g., water, swabs) Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment Prepare, analyse, and dispose of wastewater and chemical samples Organise, store, and dispose of samples appropriately Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping across all laboratory spaces Identify and report HACCP deviations Accurately record test and calibration results Communicate results with the Laboratory Team Leader and Production teams Support general lab administration and data management About You We're looking for someone with a proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. While previous lab experience is advantageous, it's not essential —on-the-job training will be provided.
