Senior Casualty Underwriter Join AIG as a Senior Casualty Underwriter and help transform how we manage risk for our clients. Overview As a Senior Underwriter at AIG, you will assess clients’ risks, price those risks, and create solutions that support the long‑term sustainability of their businesses while contributing positively to society. You will draw on over 100 years of insurance knowledge, working across geographical and functional boundaries to achieve AIG’s objectives and market position. Key Accountabilities Develop and underwrite business, including renewal retention, administration services, marketing, and compliance and legal obligations for business generated in Australia within delegated underwriting authority. Achieve agreed production targets by executing on strategic marketing objectives and action plans and building broker relationships. Increase AIG market share through the development of relationships with key producers, clients and industry groups. Provide timely production and portfolio reporting numbers. Assist in the development of strategies to grow profitable business within set budget objectives for Casualty business in Australia. Execute strategic plans to ensure budgets and plans are met, both branch and national. Work in conjunction with leaders, Client and Broker Engagement teams and other Profit Centres to grow the Commercial segment of our business. Provide superior service to offer a differentiated alternative in this highly competitive sector. Develop agreed production budgets in conjunction with the Casualty Manager in accordance with growth requirements. Monitor and report on monthly production, retention ratios, new business, hit rates, loss ratio, claims activity, overdue premiums and late bookings. Identify new business prospects & targets, research and profile accounts, and communicate details with the Client and Broker Engagement team and other Profit Centres. Assist the Casualty Manager, Segment Managers and Casualty Team in developing client relationships. Maintain solid working relationships with all commercial clients and brokers. Identify business opportunities for other profit centres to support the company’s cross‑marketing strategy. Liaise with administration staff, actuarial, legal, claims, finance and accounting and other services centres to ensure awareness of underwriting and business activities and support required standards. Maintain open communication and information sharing with Segment Managers regarding Casualty. Qualifications and Experience Casualty underwriting experience across a broad range of products including Primary Casualty, Excess/Umbrella in the Commercial segment. Entrepreneurial and solution‑based approach to underwriting while maintaining technical skill. Proven working relationship with key broking partners at major broking houses. Basic understanding of management reporting, profitability assessment, underwriting and pricing principles and relationship development. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence people. Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills.
