Due to a busy period on an exciting project, they are seeking a Senior Java Developer to join the team. Initial contract to end of Feb starting ASAP - start before Xmas Rates fully negotiable depending on experience South Melbourne location plus hybrid work-from-home Responsibilities Collaborate to clarify requirements, especially in terms of testability, consistency, and completeness Collaborate with the team to define solutions to requirements. Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards. Analyse and resolve technical and application problems. Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code. Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits Assist with testing to meet committed project deliverables. Actively participate in Agile ceremonies to drive continuous improvement. Qualifications & Prerequisites 4 -6 years of enterprise software design skills in Java Experience with Springboot Tertiary Degree in Computer Science, Software Development/Engineering, or equivalent. Solid experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs. Skills with Source Management (Git, TFS, etc), build scripting (Gradle, Maven, Make), and build servers Bamboo/Jenkins. Hands on experience with databases - Oracle (including PL/SQL), Postgres, MS SQL Server, (NoSQL like Mongo a bonus) Used source control management systems and continuous integration (CI)/deployment environments (CD) Unit Testing & Test-Driven Development (TDD) Experience with Docker and Kubernetes a plus Worked with *nix based operating systems Exposure to JIRA or similar issue tracker Exposure to case management, workflow and BPM would be highly regarded (specifically Pega Systems). (not required but useful) Experience with debugging, performance profiling and optimization Practiced Agile development methodologies including Kanban and Scrum For more information, please contact The successful candidate will need to pass a national police and employment check.
