Director/Associate Director, Portfolio Management Commonwealth Bank, Sydney CBD – Full‑time position at the Seniority level of Associate. We are looking for a seasoned finance professional to lead and optimise our Private Equity Financing (PEF) portfolio across both Institutional Banking & Markets and the Business Bank’s Major Client Group. Role involves managing a diversified leveraged finance portfolio and supporting the implementation of the Private Equity strategy. The Private Equity Financing (PEF) team plays a key role in originating, structuring and executing loans to fund Private Equity transactions, and is the preferred provider of debt financing to Private Equity clients. Responsibilities Manage a large and diverse portfolio of leveraged finance transactions (including senior loans, unitranche and Term Loan B) in collaboration with the PEF origination team and relationship bankers. Develop a working relationship with Private Equity sponsors and management teams of portfolio assets. Work closely with the PEF origination team to manage amendments, consents and waivers on existing exposures. Assist with deal closing on new transactions. Provide portfolio insights and drive accountability for the realisation of cross‑sell revenues to maximize portfolio reporting. Lead policy and process improvement for leveraged finance transactions. Liaise with Line 1 and 2 Risk teams to ensure adherence to internal risk frameworks. Support review of overall financial performance for the PEF business. Monitor credit quality, covenant compliance and performance metrics (Debt/EBITDA, ICR/FCCR, DSCR).  Maintain a deal comparable database. Support reporting of the PE portfolio to stakeholders. Build strong relationships with the PEF origination team and other internal teams (relationship management, risk, senior management, policy). Qualifications Minimum 7–10 years of experience in structuring and executing leveraged finance, acquisition finance or structured lending – ideally at a leading financial institution. Strong understanding of financial covenants, capital structures and credit risk assessment. Expertise in monitoring exposures and determining risk ratings. Demonstrable history of effectively managing and engaging stakeholders in a matrix environment. Drive process improvement and lead robust risk management of the portfolio. Strong loan product knowledge to support execution of leveraged finance loans. Strong analytical, numerical and problem‑solving skills, with excellent communication, presentation and verbal reasoning abilities. High energy, self‑motivated, able to operate at pace without guidance and with a growth mindset.
