An exciting opportunity exists for the permanent full-time position of
Mechanical Team Lead
at our Kelso manufacturing facility. Simplot Kelso is our seafood and snacking processing plant, producing 75 SKUs for the retail and foodservice markets including Birds Eye, I&J and Captain's Catch branded products. The site employs about 100 people, with approximately 95% of manufactured goods consisting of either Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) or Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) seafood.Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Team Leader will lead and coordinate a team of mechanical shift and day workers (8 x tradespeople) to meet the site’s Production and Maintenance schedules in order to optimise plant reliability, improve employee safety and minimise costs.Site equipment includes
Radio frequency tunnelsDusting, coating and frying equipmentSpiral freezing and frozen stores2 automated, robotic packing and palletising linesWhat You Will DoLead a team of mechanical tradespeople ensuring compliance to all Simplot policies and proceduresSet direction and schedule work activities for the mechanical teamCoordinate and supervise the safe and effective execution of planned mechanical maintenance work in accordance with the maintenance scheduleRespond to unplanned and emergency breakdowns in a timely mannerCoordinate and supervise the execution of "opportunity" maintenance activitiesAssist in the planning & scheduling of mechanical maintenance work, incl. attending maintenance planning & scheduling meetings whilst providing technical input and supportAssist the Projects group to develop, install and commission new equipment, modifications and improvementsPartner with the wider site (Engineering / Electrical Maintenance / Production ) in a collaborative work environment, ensuring all site stakeholders are kept aware of planned maintenance activitiesContribute to the site's reliability strategySupport and provide guidance to the mechanical maintenance team whilst constructively managing any performance issuesLead and participate in departmental and cross-functional continuous improvement activitiesFacilitate daily pre-start / toolbox meetings with the mechanical maintenance teamAbout You100% commitment to health and safety in the workplaceMechanical trade or Engineering background within a manufacturing environment (FMCG experience would be advantageous)Minimum of 3 years supervisory / leadership experience within a maintenance environmentAbility to liaise with a wide variety of site stakeholdersAdvanced knowledge of CMMS (experience in the use of MEX CMMS is highly desirable) in addition to the MS Office suite of productsExposure to LEAN manufacturing principlesWillingness to undertake a pre-employment medical (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screen)APPLICATIONS CLOSE MIDNIGHT SUNDAY 28th JULY 2024 - Simplot reserve the right to commence shortlisting prior to advert closing date#LI-LP1#LI-Onsite
